Job Description

An exciting opportunity is available for a skilled Registered Nurse to provide high-quality patient care on a fast-paced medical/surgical telemetry unit. This contract position offers the chance to work with a diverse patient population, including individuals with diabetes, kidney, liver, heart failure, respiratory issues, stroke, and cardiac dysrhythmias. The role requires a compassionate and knowledgeable nurse who can deliver safe, evidence-based care while maintaining strong communication and clinical decision-making skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care in a telemetry/medical-surgical unit through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
  • Manage complex patient care, including wound care, insulin and heparin drips, tracheostomies, chest tubes, nasogastric and feeding tubes
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and utilize clinical judgment to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes
  • Maintain centralized telemetry monitoring with support from telemetry technicians
  • Participate in weekend and holiday rotations (every other weekend and holiday required)
  • Handle 8-10 patient admissions and discharges each shift in a fast-paced environment
  • Adhere to unit standards and maintain a professional appearance as per dress guidelines

Qualifications / Desired Experience:

  • Minimum of 1 year nursing experience in medical/surgical or telemetry settings
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Experience with critical patient care skills such as wound care, insulin and heparin drips, trachs, chest tubes, NGTs, and feeding tubes
  • Ability to work three 12-hour day shifts (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
  • Comfortable floating to MST and overflow units occasionally
