Job Description

A dynamic role awaits an experienced RN ready to deliver exceptional care in a fast-paced medical/surgical/telemetry unit. This contract position is integral to providing comprehensive patient care, utilizing the nursing process to ensure adherence to safe, therapeutic practices aligned with current standards and policies. The position demands clinical expertise, evidence-based decision making, and compassionate communication to enhance patient safety and experience.

Key Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum of 1 year nursing experience, preferably in medical/surgical or telemetry units
  • Competency in wound care, insulin and heparin drips, tracheostomies, chest tubes, nasogastric and feeding tubes
  • Familiarity with patient populations including diabetes, kidney, liver, heart failure, respiratory issues, stroke, and cardiac dysrhythmias
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required
  • Experience or willingness to float occasionally to ICU/medical-surgical overflow units, primarily for first-time travelers
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment managing multiple admissions and discharges daily

Responsibilities:

  • Provide and coordinate nursing care for up to a 32-bed unit, supporting a patient-to-RN ratio of approximately 5:1 during day shifts
  • Participate in telemetry monitoring with centralized tele tech support
  • Collaborate effectively with charge nurses, unit leadership, clinical resource nurses, and hospital supervisors
  • Work three 12-hour day shifts, with every other weekend and holiday coverage required
