As a traveling nurse specializing in MedSurg/Telemetry, youll gain valuable professional growth by working alongside experienced leaders and multidisciplinary teams in a hospital setting recognized as an Advanced Primary Stroke Center. The assignment will broaden your skill set with exposure to various technologies (including Epic EMR and Philips monitors) and diverse patient populations, all while enjoying the adventure of exploring a new community during your downtime.
Schedule & Unit Details:
- Department: MedSurg/Telemetry
- Beds: 27, average census of 20
- Patient Ratio: Typically 1:5-6, acuity dependent (may increase during surge staffing)
- Orientation: Comprehensive onboarding and 2 days of departmental training
- Scrub color: Navy Blue
- Free parking
Qualifications:
- Active RN license
- Minimum 18 months recent Med/Tele experience (stroke experience required)
- BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke certification
- Proficiency in:
- MedSurg/Telemetry nursing, including NIH assessments, stroke protocols
- Cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts
- Tube/drain management (NGT, PEG, foley, JP, etc.)
- Medication gtt management (cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, IVFs)
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver patient-centered care to adults with diagnoses such as stroke, COPD, GI bleeds, and cardiac history
- Collaborate with highly supportive team that includes CNAs, phlebotomy, RT, and hospitalists
- Float within a regional network of facilities as needed, ensuring continued exposure to varied practices
- Efficiently document care using Epic EMR
