Provide expert nursing care for patients on a 20-bed Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit specializing in renal and urology care. This contract opportunity in Macon, GA offers the chance to manage complex acute and chronic kidney disease cases, including dialysis patients and post-operative renal surgery, within a Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital. The unit supports a multidisciplinary approach with strong teamwork in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care for patients with kidney disease, post-op urology/renal surgeries, and common med-surg co-morbidities such as diabetes and CHF
- Manage peritoneal dialysis treatments (training provided as needed) and medical management of renal-related complications
- Perform advanced clinical skills including tracheostomy care, chest tube management, IV starts, and telemetry interpretation
- Coordinate care with interdisciplinary teams and lead discharge planning with patient education on fluid and renal management
- Utilize EPIC EMR system and specialized equipment such as glucommander, telemetry monitors, and peritoneal dialysis devices
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Active RN license with a minimum of 2 years med-surg nursing experience
- BLS and Basic Cardiac Rhythm (BCR) certification required; ACLS and Medical-Surgical or Nephrology certification preferred
- Proficient in cardiac monitoring, wound care, central line management, and infusion therapies (insulin, heparin drips)
- Strong clinical assessment skills and ability to handle fast-paced, complex care environments
- Willingness to float to other adult med-surg/telemetry units as needed
Schedule:
- 12-hour shifts: 7 AM7 PM or 7 PM7 AM
- Weekend rotation: 5-6 weekends every 6 weeks
- Holiday work: 1 shift per major holiday
