Advance your nursing skills in a dynamic medical-surgical/telemetry setting, working alongside an experienced interdisciplinary team at a leading trauma and teaching hospital. As a Registered Nurse, you'll deliver comprehensive care to diverse cardiac and step-down ICU patients, utilizing your med-surg expertise in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
Schedule & Hours:
- 12-hour shifts (7A-7P or 7P-7A)
- Weekend rotation: 5-6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
- No on-call duty
- Expected to work one major holiday per holiday season
Qualifications:
- Active RN license
- Minimum 2 years of recent med-surg/telemetry RN experience
- Will consider first-time travelers
- BLS and Basic Cardiac Rhythm (BCR) certification required (BCR/EKG exam during onboarding)
- ACLS and medical-surgical certification preferred
- Proficiency with trach care, chest tube management, IV/PIV starts, glucommander, insulin/heparin drips (not titrating BP drips)
- Strong clinical assessment, cardiac monitoring, and telemetry interpretation skills
- Experience with wound care, post-op monitoring, and care coordination
- Epic EMR experience a plus
Core Responsibilities:
- Manage patient ratios of 1:4-6, collaborating with CNAs and support staff
- Care for patients with diagnoses such as CHF, COPD, STEMI, NSTEMI, and sepsis
- Oversee IV insertion/maintenance and central line management
- Coordinate interdisciplinary care, discharge planning, and patient education, focusing on renal and fluid management
- Float to all medical-surgical telemetry units as necessary
- Utilize technology including Epic, Alaris, Pyxis, and Philips monitors
