Experience the dynamic environment of a 637-bed teaching hospital with Level 1 Trauma, Chest Pain, and Stroke Center designations. As a Registered Nurse specializing in MedSurg/Telemetry, you'll work among dedicated healthcare professionals serving a diverse inpatient med/surg population. This role offers opportunities for clinical growth, strong interdisciplinary support, and the chance to make a difference in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting.
Schedule/Hours:
- Flexible contract shifts
- Floating required to all Med/Tele units as needed
Qualifications:
- Active RN license
- Minimum of 2 years' recent MedSurg/Telemetry experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred; must pass EKG competency exam during onboarding
- MedSurg certification a plus
- Proficiency with trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, glucometer use
- Experience managing common drips (insulin, heparin, HR titration)
Role Responsibilities:
- Manage patient care for 1:4-6 ratios, collaborating with CNAs and LPNs
- Care for a range of med/surg and telemetry patients
- Start intravenous lines and draw from central lines as needed
- Use advanced EMR (Epic), Alaris pumps, Pyxis medication delivery, and Philips monitors
- Work closely with a broad team: CNAs, unit secretaries, charge nurses, resource and discharge nurses, respiratory therapists, and 24/7 hospitalist/intensivist support
- Participate in a comprehensive orientation: 1 day of facility/unit overview plus 2 days of department-specific training
