Job Description

Experience the dynamic environment of a 637-bed teaching hospital with Level 1 Trauma, Chest Pain, and Stroke Center designations. As a Registered Nurse specializing in MedSurg/Telemetry, you'll work among dedicated healthcare professionals serving a diverse inpatient med/surg population. This role offers opportunities for clinical growth, strong interdisciplinary support, and the chance to make a difference in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting.

Schedule/Hours:

  • Flexible contract shifts
  • Floating required to all Med/Tele units as needed

Qualifications:

  • Active RN license
  • Minimum of 2 years' recent MedSurg/Telemetry experience
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred; must pass EKG competency exam during onboarding
  • MedSurg certification a plus
  • Proficiency with trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, glucometer use
  • Experience managing common drips (insulin, heparin, HR titration)

Role Responsibilities:

  • Manage patient care for 1:4-6 ratios, collaborating with CNAs and LPNs
  • Care for a range of med/surg and telemetry patients
  • Start intravenous lines and draw from central lines as needed
  • Use advanced EMR (Epic), Alaris pumps, Pyxis medication delivery, and Philips monitors
  • Work closely with a broad team: CNAs, unit secretaries, charge nurses, resource and discharge nurses, respiratory therapists, and 24/7 hospitalist/intensivist support
  • Participate in a comprehensive orientation: 1 day of facility/unit overview plus 2 days of department-specific training
