Role Overview
You will be assigned to a 32-bed orthopedic/neuro med-surg unit that also manages medical overflow patients. This unit is known for its diverse patient population and collaborative team environment. Flexibility is important, as floating to applicable units and rotating shifts with varied start times (7a-7p, 11a-11p, or 7p-7a) may be required. Night positions typically do not rotate.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to elective orthopedic, neuro/surgical, fracture, and medical overflow patients
- Continuously assess patients neurological status and manage telemetry monitoring with the ability to interpret tele strips
- Maintain accurate documentation using EPIC EMR system
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure high standards of patient care
- Adapt to floating assignments and shift rotations as needed to support unit demands
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years experience as a Med/Surg RN with strong neuro assessment and telemetry competency
- Must be able to confidently read and interpret tele strips
- Current Massachusetts RN License and BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
- Ability to manage patient ratios of 1:4 to 1:6 depending on shift
- Proficiency with EPIC charting system is a plus
Schedule
- 36 hours per week with day, night, and evening rotations as indicated
- Rotations offer variety while allowing consistent scheduling on night shifts
