Job Description

Deliver expert nursing care on a dynamic 40-bed Med/Surg/Telemetry unit specializing in hematology and oncology in a vibrant medical center setting. This travel RN opportunity invites those with a minimum of one year of nursing experience, particularly with Med/Tele skills, to provide compassionate, high-quality patient management including symptom control, end-of-life care, and complex cardiac rhythm interpretation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage caseloads with an RN to patient ratio of 1:4-5 depending on acuity
  • Perform port access procedures, blood product administration, electrolyte management, and PIV starts
  • Provide pain and symptom management tailored to hematology/oncology patients
  • Utilize advanced clinical skills including cardiac rhythm assessment and NIHSS protocols
  • Collaborate closely with CNAs, charge nurses, phlebotomy, IV/VAT teams, and hospitalists for comprehensive care
  • Use EMR systems (Epic), Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Philips monitors effectively
  • Float within the cancer center and med-surg units as needed under the facilitys float policy
  • Participate in a weekend rotation every other week and work 75% of holidays; no on-call required

Qualifications:

  • Valid RN license with at least 1 year of experience in Med/Surg or Telemetry; oncology experience preferred
  • BLS, ACLS, NIHSS certifications mandatory; ONS and OCN certification preferred
  • Proficient in blood draws, port care, and advanced cardiac monitoring

  • Shift Hours: 6:30 am to 7:00 pm (days) or 6:30 pm to 7:00 am (nights)
  • Schedule cycle repeats every 6 weeks
  • Orientation includes a 2-day departmental onboarding and facility-wide NEO
  • Scrub color requirement: Royal blue
  • Parking available free onsite
