Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and indirect patient care to medical-surgical and telemetry patients, including those with diabetes, gastrointestinal, respiratory, renal issues, wounds requiring dressing changes, chest tubes, and tracheostomies.
- Manage lab draws, telemetry monitoring, and interpret telemetry strips confidently.
- Administer medication via PCA pumps including fentanyl, ketamine, dilaudid, and manage drip infusions such as amiodarone and heparin.
- Collaborate closely with CNAs, respiratory therapists, hospitalists, and intensivists to maintain a high standard of care.
- Participate as a member of the rapid response team and support unit operations including floating to other MedSurg units as needed.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Current Registered Nurse license with BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required.
- Minimum of 2 years experience in Medical-Surgical Telemetry nursing; strong background essential.
- Skilled in chest tube and tracheostomy care, PIV starts, drain management, and PCA pumps.
- Ability to handle moderate to high stress situations with professional composure.
- Effective communicator with strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
Additional Information:
- Patient ratios for RN typically 5-6:1, CNA 8:1.
- Orientation includes 2 days of departmental training and facility new employee orientation.
- Use of EMR system Epic, Alaris IV pumps, and Omnicell medication dispensing system.
