Job Description

A specialized nursing opportunity is available for experienced Registered Nurses with a Masters level of education, focusing on orthopedic and trauma care. This role involves working night shifts of 12 hours (7:00 PM 7:00 AM) every other week, including coverage during one holiday and one holiday evening, providing critical care in pre-operative and post-operative orthopedic settings. This is a contract position located in Kernersville, NC, offering a dynamic work environment within a busy hospital known for advanced orthopedic and trauma services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care to elective and trauma orthopedic patients, including total hip, knee, and shoulder replacements and repairs.
  • Utilize Safe Patient Handling and Orthopedic equipment effectively, including CPM machines, knee immobilizers, and bone foam.
  • Participate actively in Rapid Response Teams to respond to patient emergencies.
  • Maintain a high standard of patient care within a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6, with occasional stretches to 1:7.
  • Document patient information accurately using EPIC software.
  • Adhere strictly to scheduling requirements and hospital policies including a zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Current RN license with a Masters degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in nursing, specifically with orthopedic and trauma patients.
  • Certified in BLS (required); ACLS certification is preferred.
  • Proficient with EPIC electronic medical records system.
  • Experience in managing pre-op and post-op orthopedic patients.
  • Knowledge and use of Safe Patient Handling equipment.
