Job Description

A healthcare opportunity is available for a registered nurse with a medical-surgical and telemetry skill set. This role focuses on delivering comprehensive patient care in a 24-bed unit within a teaching hospital recognized for its Level 1 Trauma Designation and specialty centers including Chest Pain and Stroke. The position requires a minimum of two years experience in medical-surgical nursing and the ability to manage a diverse patient population with diagnoses such as diabetes, gastrointestinal, respiratory, renal conditions, wound care, chest tubes, and tracheostomies.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct and indirect patient care with strong clinical assessment and telemetry monitoring skills
  • Perform tasks including PIV starts, chest tube and trach care, wound dressing changes, lab draws, and managing various PCA pumps and intravenous drips
  • Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams including CNAs, phlebotomists, respiratory therapists, rapid response teams, and hospitalists
  • Maintain accurate documentation using electronic medical records (Epic) and operate medical equipment such as IV pumps and medication dispensers
  • Participate in department float assignments within other medical-surgical units as needed
  • Adhere to unit culture focused on patient-centered care, reliability, and teamwork

Qualifications/Desired Experience:

  • Current RN licensure with at least 2 years of experience in medical-surgical telemetry nursing
  • Certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS required
  • Proficient with telemetry strip interpretation and management of moderate to high complexity patient care scenarios
  • Demonstrated interpersonal communication skills and ability to work in fast-paced environments

Schedule:

  • 12-hour shifts, day (6:30 AM7:00 PM) and night (6:30 PM6:30 AM) options
  • Weekend rotation every other weekend
  • Holiday coverage approximately 75% of holidays
  • No on-call responsibilities
