An opportunity is available for an experienced Med-Surg/Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) to provide skilled nursing care in a dynamic hospital setting located in Huntersville, NC. This contract role offers the chance to work in a Level I Trauma, teaching hospital recognized as a Chest Pain and Stroke Center. The primary focus is to support the Acute Diagnostic Treatment Unit (ADTU) and Satellite units, which help decompress the Emergency Department and various specialty areas.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric patients with diagnoses such as COPD exacerbation, pneumonia, CHF exacerbation, pulmonary embolism, GI bleeds, and more.
• Manage multiple nursing duties, including cardiac rhythm interpretation, stroke care, tracheostomy care, chest tube and drain management, PIV starts, NGT placement, and PCA pump operation.
• Administer medication drips and manage blood products and intravenous fluids.
• Collaborate with CNAs, secretaries, resource nurses, RTs, hospitalists, and intensivists to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Monitor patient telemetry independently, incorporating shift-based rhythm interpretation.
• Float within the region as needed, supporting unit and facility demands.

Qualifications / Desired Experience:

• Minimum of 2 years experience as a Med-Surg/Telemetry RN preferred; new travelers may be considered.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications.
• Proficient in general Med/Tele nursing skills and specialized procedure competencies.
• Experience in stroke care, cardiac telemetry, and critical care procedures.
• Ability to work a schedule including 7a-7p or 7p-7a shifts, with weekend rotations every other weekend and holiday coverage expectations.
