An opportunity is available for an experienced Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (RN-MS) to support a dynamic, patient-centered unit in High Point, NC. This contract role involves working in a 29-bed unit within a Level 1 Trauma academic medical center, known for its comprehensive care including chest pain and stroke services. The position offers a professional environment focused on teamwork and high reliability.
Responsibilities include delivering direct and indirect patient care for a variety of general medicine cases such as diabetes, gastrointestinal, respiratory, renal, wound care, and management of chest tubes and tracheostomies. The role also requires performing lab draws, telemetry monitoring, administration of IV medications including PCA pumps, and managing drips like Amiodarone and Heparin. Nurses work collaboratively with CNAs, receptionists, charge nurses, and specialty teams including rapid response, respiratory therapy, hospitalists, and intensivists to ensure comprehensive care.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Active RN licensure with a minimum of 2 years medical-surgical nursing experience
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
- Strong background in telemetry and critical care skills such as chest tube, trach care, PIV starts, and PCA pump management
- Excellent communication skills and ability to function effectively under moderate to high stress
Schedule and Location Details:
- Shift options: 0630-1900 or 1830-0630
- Weekend rotation every other weekend
- Travelers expected to work approximately 75% of holidays
- No on-call requirements
- Free employee parking available
- Royal blue scrubs required
