Job Description

Deliver skilled nursing care in a dynamic medical-surgical/telemetry unit that supports a diverse patient population with general medicine diagnoses, including diabetes, gastrointestinal, respiratory, renal conditions, wound care, chest tubes, and tracheostomies. This contract opportunity in High Point, NC, offers a rewarding environment to apply clinical expertise within a Level 1 Trauma Teaching Hospital setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct and indirect patient care, including chest tube management, tracheostomy care, PIV starts, drain and tube maintenance, and PCA pump management.
  • Monitor telemetry strips accurately and respond to changes in patient condition.
  • Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams such as CNAs, charge nurses, respiratory therapists, hospitalists, intensivists, and rapid response teams.
  • Manage medication drips including amiodarone, fentanyl, ketamine, dilaudid, and heparin infusions.
  • Maintain clear and professional communication, both written and oral, under moderate to high-stress situations.
  • Participate in weekend rotations every other week with shifts of either 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM or 6:30 PM to 6:30 AM.

Qualifications:

  • Active RN licensure with at least 2 years of medical-surgical experience; first-time travelers with strong Med-Surg/Telemetry background are considered.
  • Current certifications including BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (required for Resource Team).
  • Ability to handle patient ratios of approximately 5-6 to 1 with CNA support.
  • Competency with EMR systems (Epic), Alaris IV pumps, and Omnicell medication dispensing technology.
