This Neuro Med Surg/Telemetry nursing assignment will deepen your professional expertise while you work alongside a dedicated team using EPIC charting in a state-of-the-art 22-bed neuro unit. Youll gain hands-on experience with a diverse neuro and neuro-surgical patient population, expanding your skill set and learning from top-tier clinical leaders whose practices can enhance your resume. Exposure to a variety of patient cases and a strong focus on evidence-based care ensures continued professional growth and broadens your adaptability for future opportunities.

Schedule/Hours:

  • 13-week contract beginning 5/18
  • Guaranteed 36 hours per week (excluding orientation week and some holidays)
  • Three 12-hour night shifts per week
  • Every other weekend and holiday required

Qualifications:

  • Valid, active Illinois RN license
  • Certifications: AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, NIHSS
  • At least 2 years of recent Med Surg/Tele experience (plus neuro background)
  • Minimum of one previous travel assignment
  • Recent EPIC charting proficiency
  • Comfortable with NIHSS, strong neuro assessments, basic tele interpretation, strict I&Os, heparin drips, blood products, venipuncture, NG tubes, and related skills
  • Flexible for possible floating to medical units

Duties:

  • Provide specialized nursing care to neuro and neuro-surgical patients, including care post-CVA, back/neck surgeries, and elective procedures
  • Perform thorough neuro assessments, dysphagia screenings, and manage complex medication/dose titration
