Job Description

An exciting opportunity is available for a skilled RN with MedSurg and Telemetry experience to provide exceptional patient care in a reputable academic medical center. This contract position is based in Greensboro, NC, offering a dynamic environment in a Level 1 Trauma Designation facility known for its comprehensive services including a Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct and indirect patient care to a diverse population with diagnoses such as diabetes, gastrointestinal issues, respiratory conditions, renal problems, wounds requiring dressing changes, chest tubes, and tracheostomies.
  • Manage telemetry monitoring and interpret cardiac rhythms accurately.
  • Perform procedures including chest tube care, tracheostomy management, peripheral IV starts, drain and tube management, and PCA pump administration.
  • Manage intravenous infusions such as Amiodarone, Fentanyl PCA, Ketamine PCA, Dilaudid PCA, and Heparin drips.
  • Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams including CNAs, charge nurses, respiratory therapists, hospitalists, and intensivists.
  • Utilize Epic EMR system and Alaris IV pumps to document and administer care accurately.
  • Float to other MedSurg units as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Current RN licensure with a minimum of 2 years MedSurg Telemetry experience; first-time travelers with strong MST backgrounds are considered.
  • Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale certification.
  • Ability to perform under moderate to high stress levels while maintaining excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in telemetry strip interpretation and patient monitoring technologies.
