An engaging opportunity is available for an experienced Registered Nurse specializing in Medical-Surgical and Telemetry care, located in Gray, GA. This contract position offers the chance to provide expert nursing to patients dealing with acute and chronic kidney diseases, post-op renal surgeries, and other complex med-surg conditions within a 20-bed unit setting.
Location Overview: Situated in Gray, GA, this role places you in a vibrant community with accessible amenities and a welcoming environment. The facility supports a Level 1 Trauma Designation and is a teaching hospital, providing a dynamic and supportive clinical setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide nursing care to patients with kidney disease, ESRD, peritoneal dialysis, and renal-related surgical needs.
- Manage and monitor cardiac telemetry, wound care, and IV therapies including insulin and heparin drips.
- Coordinate care with interdisciplinary teams and lead discharge planning focused on renal and fluid management education.
- Perform clinical assessments, manage tracheostomy care, chest tubes, and central lines.
- Support patient safety and quality through hourly rounding and documentation using EPIC EMR.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Minimum 2 years nursing experience; first-time travelers are welcome.
- Current RN license.
- Certifications: BLS and BCR (required), ACLS (preferred), Medical-Surgical or Nephrology Nursing certification (preferred).
- Proficient in IV insertion, cardiac monitoring, and telemetry interpretation.
- Skilled in managing complex med-surg cases with common co-morbidities like diabetes, hypertension, and CHF.
Schedule & Work Environment:
- 12-hour shifts: 7AM-7PM or 7PM-7AM with a 5-6 weekend shifts every 6 weeks.
- No on-call duties; holiday shifts required on major holidays.
