A 12-hour shift Registered Nurse opportunity is available working Med-Surg/Telemetry in a Level 1 Trauma designated teaching hospital located in Gray, GA. This fully licensed 637-bed hospital is recognized as a Stroke Center and Chest Pain Center, delivering high-quality care to a diverse patient population. This contract role includes working on a 30-bed med-surg/telemetry unit with a census of 30 patients.

Responsibilities:

• Provide skilled nursing care to patients with acute and chronic conditions including heart failure, A-Fib, acute kidney injury, COPD, sepsis, post-op surgeries, and cardiac procedures.
• Perform clinical assessments and manage complex med-surg patients in a Level 1 Trauma setting.
• Monitor cardiac telemetry and interpret rhythm strips with adherence to unit protocols.
• Administer and titrate IV drips including insulin and heparin, and perform PIV starts.
• Manage tracheostomy care, chest tubes, central lines, wound care, Foley catheter maintenance, and groin care.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team for patient care coordination, discharge planning, and patient/family education, especially regarding renal and fluid management.
• Utilize EMR (Epic system) and hospital technology such as VS3 vital sign monitors, cardiac telemetry, glucommander, and PCA pumps.

Qualifications/Desired Experience:

• Minimum 2 years experience in Med-Surg/Telemetry nursing.
• Current RN license and BLS required; BCR (Basic Cardiac Rhythm) certification or competency required.
• ACLS and Medical-Surgical Nursing certification preferred but not mandatory.
• Competence in clinical skills such as IV insertion, cardiac monitoring, and complex medical nursing.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Schedule/Hours:

• 12-hour shifts (7am-7pm or 7pm-7am).
• Weekend rotation of 5-6 weekends in 12 (on a 6-week schedule).
• No on-call duties.
• Holiday coverage includes one shift during major holidays.
• Manager approval required for time-off requests.
