Job Description

Advance your career as a Registered Nurse specializing in Med-Surg/Telemetry in a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment. This contract opportunity offers the chance to provide acute care to diverse patient populations, including pre/post-cardiac and step-down ICU patients. The facility is a leading, high-acuity teaching hospital designated as a Level 1 Trauma, Chest Pain, and Stroke Center.

Schedule:

  • 12-hour shifts: 7A7P or 7P7A
  • Requires 56 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling cycle
  • No call required
  • Holiday coverage includes one shift per major holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years)

Qualifications:

  • Active RN license
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Med-Surg/Tele nursing experience
  • BLS and Basic Cardiac Rhythm/EKG Rhythm exam required (part of onboarding)
  • ACLS and Med-Surg RN certification preferred but not mandatory
  • Strong clinical assessment, IV/pic line management, cardiac monitoring, and wound care skills
  • Experience with trach care, chest tubes, insulin/heparin drips, central line management
  • Proficiency with Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis, and Phillips monitors

Responsibilities:

  • Care for patients with CHF, COPD, STEMI/NSTEMI, sepsis, and related diagnoses
  • Maintain RN:patient ratios of 1:46, collaborating with CNAs and interdisciplinary teams
  • Coordinate with CNAs, resource nurses, hospitalists, and intensivists to deliver comprehensive care
  • Perform wound care, discharge planning, care coordination, and patient education, especially regarding renal and fluid management
  • Float to other Med Surg/Tele units as needed
  • Attend 1-day facility orientation and 2-day department orientation
