Job Description
Step into a dynamic nursing environment at a nationally recognized teaching hospital and Level 1 Trauma Center. This is a contract opportunity for experienced RNs with a strong foundation in MedSurg/Tele nursing. Youll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams while caring for a diverse census of acute and chronic patientsranging from cardiac and respiratory conditions to post-op surgical care and complex comorbidities.
Schedule/Hours:
- 12-hour shifts: 7A-7P or 7P-7A
- Every 6-week schedule cycle
- Weekend rotation: 5-6 shifts per cycle
- Holiday coverage: one shift per major holiday as scheduled
Qualifications & Required Experience:
- Valid RN license and BLS certification (ACLS preferred)
- Minimum 2 years MedSurg/Tele RN experience
- Proven competency in EKG (will need to pass an EKG exam)
- Exceptional skills in trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, central line management, telemetry monitoring, wound care, and working with insulin or heparin drips
- Strong clinical assessment and MedSurg nursing skills in a high-acuity setting
- Effective care coordination and discharge planning, particularly for renal and fluid management patients
Key Responsibilities:
- Comprehensive patient monitoring and timely interventions for a 1:4-6 RN ratio
- Collaboration with CNAs, respiratory therapists, unit secretary, and PICC/resource nurses
- IV insertion, central line and foley catheter management, groin and wound care
- Patient and family education on treatment plans, especially regarding chronic illness management
- Floating to other adult MedSurg/Tele units as needed
- Adherence to rapid turnover protocols, timely admissions/discharges
