Job Description
Seeking a skilled Registered Nurse with med-surg and telemetry experience to deliver exceptional patient care in a dynamic, team-oriented hospital setting. This contract position offers the opportunity to work in a Level 1 Trauma hospital with advanced cardiac and stroke services, utilizing modern technology and collaborative departmental support.
Schedule/Hours:
- 12-hour shifts (7A-7P or 7P-7A)
- Rotate 5-6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling period
- No on-call
- Holiday rotation is required
Qualifications:
- Current RN license with a minimum of 2 years of recent med-surg/telemetry nursing experience
- BLS required; ability to pass EKG competency exam (BCR)
- ACLS and medical-surgical specialty certification preferred
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making abilities in managing complex medical/surgical cases
- Proficient with: IV and central line care, cardiac monitoring, chest tube/trach care, wound and post-op monitoring, PIV starts, drips (insulin, heparin, titrate HR), Foley catheter procedures, and care coordination
- Comfortable with rapid patient turnover, discharge planning, and patient/family educationparticularly for cardiac and renal conditions
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide safe, high-quality care for adults with acute or chronic health conditions (e.g., CHF, A-Fib, respiratory failure, sepsis, post-op recovery)
- Manage typical ratios (RN: 1:4-6)
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including discharge/resource nurses, CNAs, respiratory therapy, and hospitalists
- Accurately document in EPIC, utilize equipment such as Alaris pumps, Philips monitors, bladder scanners, and more
