Job Description

An opportunity is available for an experienced Med-Surg/Telemetry RN to provide high-quality nursing care in a Level I Trauma and Teaching Hospital setting. This contract position is based in Gastonia, NC, and involves working in critical units aimed at supporting Emergency Department decompression and other specialty areas.

Responsibilities:

  • Care for adult and geriatric patients with conditions such as COPD exacerbation, pneumonia, CHF exacerbation, pulmonary embolism, stroke, and trauma-related injuries.
  • Perform specialized Med/Tele nursing skills including cardiac rhythm interpretation, stroke care, trach care, PCA pump management, and handling various drains and tubes.
  • Administer medication drip management, including cardiac drips and blood products.
  • Collaborate with CNAs, secretaries, charge nurses, phlebotomists, respiratory therapists, and hospitalists to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Monitor telemetry and complete rhythm interpretations each shift.
  • Float within the assigned regional facilities as needed and in accordance with scope of practice.

Qualifications:

  • Valid RN license with at least 2 years of Med/Tele nursing experience.
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS.
  • Competent in PIV starts, chest tube and NGT management, PCA pumps, and medication drip administration.
  • Ability to interpret cardiac rhythms and care for complex patient needs.
  • Flexibility to float across multiple units within the region.
  • Comfortable working 12-hour shifts (7a-7p and 7p-7a), weekend rotations (every other weekend), and 75% of holidays.
