As a valued Registered Nurse in a busy Med Surg environment, you will play an essential role in providing high-quality, compassionate care to a diverse patient population. This contract opportunity offers hands-on experience within a renowned health facility serving the greater St. Louis area, known for its commitment to patient wellbeing and clinical excellence.
Schedule/Hours:
- Night shifts: 7:00 PM 7:30 AM
- 36 or 48 guaranteed hours per week (must be indicated on submission)
- Assignment length: 13 weeks
- Every other weekend required
- Orientation week is on days; full week availability required
Qualifications:
- Active RN license in Missouri or eligibility for Missouri licensure
- Minimum 1 year of recent inpatient Med Surg nursing experience
- BLS certification (American Heart Association required)
- ACLS certification (preferred, AHA)
- Ability to float to other units as needed
- Strong team collaboration skills; adaptable and reliable
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care for adults with various medical and surgical conditions, utilizing the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation)
- Coordinate patient care with ancillary departments and interdisciplinary teams
- Maintain patients rights and ensure confidentiality at all times
- Supervise and evaluate care provided by direct caregivers
- Ensure compliance with the Missouri Nurse Practice Act and facility service standards
- Maintain accurate documentation using EPIC EMR
Additional Requirements:
- Flu vaccination (or Mercy-approved exemption) required during flu season
- Black scrubs; closed-toe shoes only
