Job Description

Join a dynamic healthcare team specializing in neuro cardiac care within a well-equipped 32-bed unit providing complex med/surg and telemetry services. This 13-week travel opportunity offers the chance to work night shifts in a supportive environment focused on critical care excellence and professional growth.

Location: This position is based in a vibrant Midwest city known for its rich cultural heritage and friendly community. The area offers easy access to recreational activities, local dining, and outdoor spaces, making it an attractive destination for travel nurses seeking both professional and personal fulfillment.

Schedule/Hours:

  • 12-hour night shifts (6:30 PM 7:00 AM)
  • Guaranteed 36 hours weekly (48 hours available on request)
  • Weekend coverage required three weekends every six weeks
  • No on-call or call-back responsibilities
  • Floating required within the hospital campuses (mid-shift and cross-campus with notice)

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver exceptional nursing care to complex neurological and cardiac patients, including post-cardiac catheterizations, CVA/TIA, oncology cases, and abdominal surgeries
  • Utilize expert neuro assessment skills such as NIHSS and dysphagia screening
  • Interpret telemetry and 12-lead EKGs accurately, with proficiency in telemonitoring (successful completion of tele tests required)
  • Initiate and titrate critical drips including insulin, cardiac medications, and heparin
  • Support patient recovery following heart catheterization procedures
  • Participate in patient and unit education, including precepting students and new hires as needed

Qualifications:

  • Active RN compact license
  • Current AHA BLS and NIHSS certifications
  • Minimum two years strong telemetry/med-surg nursing experience, including trauma level II
  • One completed travel assignment preferred
  • Recent EPIC electronic charting experience required
  • Charge nurse experience a plus
  • Competence in neuro and cardiac management skills, including initiating drips and telemetry interpretation
