Job Description
A healthcare role specializing in medical-surgical nursing with strong clinical expertise on the night shift is available at a prominent hospital campus in Evansville, Indiana. This 13-week travel assignment offers a dynamic environment working primarily with medical and surgical patients, where advanced skills in fluid/antibiotic therapies, wound care, and patient assessment are essential.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Current, active compact RN license
- American Heart Association BLS certification and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Minimum two years of solid Medical-Surgical nursing experience, including one prior travel assignment
- Experience in a trauma Level II setting
- Recent charting experience with EPIC software (competency checkoff required)
- Proficiency in IV therapy, heparin drips, wound vac management, and basic telemetry
- Ability to adapt to change, resilience, and strong teamwork skills
Schedule & Location:
- 12-hour night shifts, approximately 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM
- Guaranteed 36 hours weekly, with availability to increase up to 48 hours
- Three weekends out of every six-week schedule required
- Float assignments may include two nearby campuses within an 11-mile radius
- Location requires candidates to reside outside a 40-mile radius of the primary hospital
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive care for patients with diagnoses such as CHF, COPD, sepsis, cellulitis, amputations, and post-operative needs
- Utilize strong assessment capabilities in a mixed medical-surgical environment without a heavy cardiac focus
- Participate in unit teamwork and support new hires or students in a teaching hospital setting
- Maintain professionalism, including adherence to uniform guidelines and agency policies
