Job Description
An opportunity is available for a skilled RN with MedSurg and Telemetry experience to provide high-quality nursing care within a Level I Trauma and Teaching Hospital setting. This position emphasizes diverse patient care including complex surgical trauma, renal and liver conditions, and cardiac-related diagnoses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide nursing care to patients with bladder and renal cancers, kidney stones, post-operative transplant care, stroke, and trauma cases.
- Manage clinical tasks such as chest tube care, tracheostomy, PIV starts, NGT placement, and drain management.
- Monitor cardiac rhythms and administer medication drips including cardiac and heparin infusions.
- Manage fluid resuscitation, blood product administration, and patient pain through PCA pumps.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including hospitalists, intensivists, and respiratory therapists.
- Utilize EMR systems (EPIC) and advanced monitoring equipment (Phillips monitors, Alaris IV pumps).
- Float within designated regional facilities as required, ensuring coverage and continuity of care.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years MedSurg/Telemetry RN experience; stroke care experience preferred.
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications.
- Proficient in cardiac rhythm interpretation and skilled in a broad range of Med/Tele nursing procedures.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, supportive environment.
- Willingness to float within the assigned region; flexible and adaptable to schedule needs.
Schedule & Work Environment:
- Weekend rotation every other weekend; no call required.
- Holiday work expected approximately 75% of the time.
- Free parking and designated scrub color: navy.
- Orientation includes 2-day departmental new employee orientation.
