Job Description

Join a dynamic Neuro Cardiac Medical-Surgical/Telemetry nursing team on a 13-week travel assignment based in a hospital setting in Chandler, IN. This night shift position offers a challenging and rewarding environment caring for complex med/surg and telemetry patients, including post-cardiac catheterizations, CVA/TIA, implanted cardiac devices, oncology, and neurosurgical cases.

Location Overview:

Schedule & Hours:

  • 12-hour night shifts, 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM
  • Guaranteed 36 hours weekly, with the option to accept 48 hours
  • Overtime available after 52 hours on 48-hour schedules
  • Weekend requirement: three weekends every six weeks
  • No on-call or call-back duties
  • Float assignments within skillset across two nearby campuses with appropriate notice

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality care to a 32-bed Neuro Cardiac unit with a focus on complex neurological and cardiac patients
  • Utilize strong neuro assessment skills including NIHSS and dysphagia screening
  • Interpret telemetry and 12-lead EKGs and manage IV drips such as insulin and cardiac medications
  • Respond proactively with critical thinking in a fast-paced, trauma level II environment
  • Participate in unit teaching activities, including precepting students and new hires (teaching hospital)

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Current active Compact RN license
  • AHA BLS and NIHSS certifications
  • Minimum two years med/surg and telemetry experience with at least one travel assignment
  • Trauma Level II experience required; charge nurse experience preferred
  • Recent experience with EPIC electronic charting system
  • Ability to pass telemetry testing and strong critical thinking skills

Unit and Work Culture:

  • Supportive, fun, and knowledgeable staff with proactive leadership
  • Ratio typically 1:6-7 at night; charge nurse participates in assignments
  • Navy blue scrubs, no outside logos allowed
  • Covid-19 vaccine not currently required
