Job Description

Join a dedicated healthcare team providing exceptional post-operative nursing care in Champaign, IL, on a contract basis. This role focuses on delivering comprehensive nursing services to complex surgical patients, including those with new tracheostomies, ostomies, and wounds requiring advanced management like wound vacs. The position requires accurate assessment, meticulous care planning, and continuous evaluation to support optimal patient recovery.

Responsibilities include completing initial patient assessments upon admission, developing and implementing individualized care plans, and adjusting these plans based on ongoing evaluations. You will ensure patient and staff safety by promptly addressing hazards and incidents and communicate effectively with healthcare colleagues to foster a collaborative environment. Providing education and support to patients and their families is a critical component, assisting them in understanding their post-operative needs.

  • Perform all nursing duties in accordance with scope of practice and unit standards
  • Deliver advanced wound care and manage complex surgical recovery patients
  • Monitor and care for new tracheostomy patients and provide ostomy education
  • Collaborate with surgical and oral and maxillofacial residency services
  • Maintain precise, up-to-date documentation to facilitate integrated care delivery
  • Contribute to professional development by sharing feedback and identifying learning needs
