An opportunity is available for a Registered Nurse with Medical-Surgical expertise and Coronary Care experience to provide high-quality patient care in a hospital setting. This position involves working 12-hour shifts (7 PM to 7 AM) including weekends, holidays, and on-call responsibilities over a 13-week contract. The RN must be flexible and comfortable floating between Medical-Surgical and Progressive Care Unit (PCU) areas, demonstrating a strong ability to prioritize and adapt in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients in Med/Surg and PCU units, with a focus on coronary care patients
- Assess patient needs including clinical, teaching, mental, and spiritual aspects to ensure holistic care
- Implement patient safety measures and use proper lifting techniques to protect patients and staff
- Function effectively under stressful situations while applying creative problem-solving skills
- Exhibit strong leadership by prioritizing tasks, delegating responsibilities, and possibly assuming charge nurse duties
- Maintain accurate documentation and communicate effectively with the healthcare team
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Current New York State RN license mandatory
- Minimum of one successful traveler assignment; first-time travelers are not eligible
- Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing
- Previous hospital RN experience preferred
- BLS certification required or to be obtained within 3 months of hire
- Thorough knowledge of nursing principles and patient care standards
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
