Job Description

You'll be based in a large, progressive medical center renowned as a Level 1 Trauma and teaching facility. Here, youll encounter a diverse range of patient cases, from orthopedic and trauma injuries to complex post-ops and chronic disease management. This setting encourages the development of advanced nursing skills and exposes you to varied leadership styles and best practices, enhancing your resume for future roles.

Schedule:

  • 12-hour shifts (7A-7P or 7P-7A)
  • Weekend rotation: 5-6 weekends per 6-week cycle
  • No on-call
  • Holiday coverage: One shift per major holiday

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Active RN license
  • BLS certification
  • Basic Cardiac Rhythm (BCR) competency (will complete EKG exam)
  • Minimum 2 years Med/Surg or Tele RN experience
  • Open to first-time travelers
  • Skills: IV and central line management, wound and post-op care, trach and chest tube management, cardiac and telemetry monitoring, care coordination, patient education (especially renal and fluid), proficiency with EMR, and rapid patient turnover

Preferred:

  • ACLS certification
  • National certification in Med/Surg or Nephrology nursing

Your Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality patient care to an engaging mix of orthopedic/trauma and chronic disease cases
  • Interpreting telemetry and monitoring drips (excluding BP titrations)
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
  • Take an active role in discharge planning and patient education
  • Float across adult Med/Surg and Telemetry units as needed
