An excellent opportunity awaits experienced Med-Surg/Telemetry Registered Nurses seeking a dynamic setting within a high-volume, Level 1 Trauma teaching facility. This contract assignment offers the chance to provide exceptional care for a diverse patient population, including those with complex medical and surgical needs.
Schedule:
- 12-hour shifts (7A-7P or 7P-7A)
- Weekend rotation: 5-6 weekend shifts per 6-week cycle
- Holiday shifts required per major holiday schedule (one per holiday period)
- No on-call requirement
Required Qualifications:
- Active RN license with a minimum of 2 years recent Med-Surg/Telemetry RN experience
- Current BLS certification
- Strong clinical assessment, cardiac monitoring, and med-surg nursing skills suitable for a Level 1 Trauma hospital
- BCR (Basic Cardiac Rhythm) proficiency required; will need to pass EKG competency exam
- Comfort with trach care, chest tube management, IV/PIV initiation and care, wound and post-op monitoring, central line management, insulin and non-titratable cardiac drips
- Familiarity with EMR systems (EPIC preferred)
- ACLS and national med-surg or nephrology certification preferred but not mandatory
- Willingness to float to all adult med-surg/tele units as needed
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitoring, assessing, and coordinating care for a broad range of medical/surgical, post-op, cardiac, bariatric, orthopedic, and chronic/acute disease patients
- Interpreting telemetry and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team for comprehensive patient care
- Patient education and discharge planning, particularly focusing on renal and fluid management
- Utilizing hospital resources and communicating with CNAs, unit secretaries, and resource nurses
- Adhering to facility protocols, ensuring excellent documentation and patient safety standards
