Job Description
Deliver compassionate, high-quality care on busy Medical-Surgical/Telemetry floors within a highly respected, accredited hospital. This contract opportunity offers dynamic learning and collaboration in a teaching hospital with Level 1 Trauma, Stroke, and Chest Pain Center designation.
Schedule:
- 12-hour shifts (7A7P or 7P7A)
- Six-week schedule cycle
- 5-6 weekend shifts out of every 12
- Holiday coverage: one shift per major holiday as scheduled
- No on-call responsibilities
Qualifications:
- Active RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg-Telemetry nursing experience
- BLS required; ACLS preferred (must pass EKG competency exam during onboarding)
- Med/Surg certification a plus
- Strong skills in assessment, time management, patient education, and interdisciplinary care coordination
- Proficiency with trach care, chest tubes, PIV/IV maintenance, insulin and cardiac drips, and monitoring/interpreting cardiac rhythms
- Experience caring for patients with acute/chronic disease, co-morbidities, post-cardiac intervention, or surgical needs
Responsibilities:
- Manage a patient load of 46 (RN ratio), collaborating with CNAs, LPNs, and interdisciplinary resources
- Deliver patient-centered care, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications and drips, and providing thorough patient education
- Coordinate with discharge and resource nurses to support transitions of care
- Chart and document in the EPIC EMR system, using advanced monitoring and medication delivery technologies (Alaris, Pyxis, Philips)
- Float as needed to all Med/Tele units to ensure consistent, quality coverage hospital-wide
- Participate in a positive, fast-paced team culture, supported by 24/7 hospitalist, intensivist, RT, and central telemetry teams
