Job Description

A specialized nursing role is available for experienced Registered Nurses with orthopedic and trauma expertise. This position focuses on providing care for pre-operative and post-operative orthopedic patients, including elective and trauma cases such as total hip, knee, and shoulder replacements and repairs. It requires proficiency with orthopedic equipment and technology, including EPIC electronic health records.

Key Qualifications and Experience:

  • Registered Nurse with a minimum of 2 years of clinical experience; first-time travelers will not be considered
  • Current BLS certification required; ACLS certification preferred
  • Proficient in orthopedic and trauma nursing, particularly in pre-op and post-op care
  • Experience with Rapid Response Teams and orthopedic-specific equipment (CPM, Knee Immobilizer, Bone Foam)
  • Comfortable managing a nurse to patient ratio of approximately 1:6, occasionally stretching to 1:7
  • Skilled in use of Safe Patient Handling equipment and EPIC electronic medical records
  • Ability to work a night schedule: three 12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM every other week
  • Willing to work one holiday and one holiday evening shift during the holiday period, with no call

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive care to orthopedic trauma and elective surgery patients through all perioperative phases
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient recovery and outcomes
  • Utilize orthopedic devices and technologies to support patient mobility and healing
  • Maintain compliance with facility protocols and participate in required testing, including the mandatory Pass/Fail EKG exam
