Job Description

Join a specialized neuro cardiac care team providing expert nursing for complex Med/Surg and Telemetry patients in a supportive hospital environment. This is a travel nursing role focused on night shifts at a well-established medical center with a commitment to patient care and professional growth.

Location: Situated in Boonville, IN, this hospital combines small-town charm with proximity to larger urban amenities. The community offers a friendly atmosphere, affordable living, and access to parks and local events, making it an ideal place to balance professional responsibilities and personal life.

Position Details:

  • Travel assignment with a 13-week contract length
  • Start dates available: April 20 or May 4, with bi-weekly orientation sessions
  • Shifts: 12-hour nights, from 6:30 pm to 7:00 am
  • Guaranteed 36 hours per week, with option to accept 48 hours
  • Floating required within skillset across two campuses, with advance notice
  • Three weekends scheduled every six weeks, alternating holiday coverage
  • Strict 40-mile local candidate radius open to travel nurses outside this area

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Current active compact RN license
  • AHA BLS and NIHSS certifications (required with application)
  • Minimum two years strong experience in Telemetry/Med-Surg nursing, including one travel assignment and Level II trauma exposure
  • Recent EPIC charting experience with checkoff training anticipated
  • Expertise in neuro assessments (NIHSS, dysphagia screening), tele/12-lead EKG interpretation, initiating and titrating drips (insulin, cardiac, heparin), and heart cath recovery care
  • Preferred skills: NG/PEG tube care, PIV insertion, Tikosyn administration, chest tube management
  • Demonstrated critical thinking, resilience, and adaptability in fast-paced settings
  • Charge nurse experience is a plus

Unit Overview:

  • 32-bed Neuro Cardiac Unit with a strong emphasis on teamwork and professional support
  • Nurse-to-patient ratios typically 1:6-7 on nights
  • Collaborative, knowledgeable staff and proactive leadership
  • Navy blue scrubs with no competing agency logos allowed
  • Teaching hospital environment requiring potential precepting responsibilities
  • COVID-19 vaccine not currently mandated but subject to change
