Job Description

A travel nursing opportunity is available for experienced RNs with a strong background in cardiac and telemetry care. This position offers the chance to work the night shift in a high-acuity, 41-bed Medical-Surgical Telemetry unit specializing in cardiac and renal patients. The 13-week assignment provides a dynamic setting requiring critical thinking, specialized clinical skills, and adaptability.

Situated in a welcoming community in Indiana, this assignment places you within reach of nearby campuses just miles apart, allowing for varied clinical experience and a balanced lifestyle.

Schedule and Commitments:

  • 12-hour night shifts (6:30 PM 7:00 AM)
  • Guaranteed 36 hours weekly; 48 hours available upon request
  • Weekend coverage required three weekends every six weeks
  • Floating between campuses within skillset scope with appropriate notice
  • No on-call or call-back responsibilities

Key Qualifications and Experience:

  • Current active compact RN license
  • Minimum of 2 years strong cardiac/telemetry experience with trauma Level II exposure
  • Successful completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
  • Proficient in EPIC charting system (check-off class required)
  • Certification requirements: AHA BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Skilled in telemetry, 12-lead EKG interpretation, initiating/titrating drips (antiarrhythmics, heparin, etc.), PIV insertion, chest tube and nephrostomy tube care
  • Ability to pass telemetry competency tests as required for travelers
  • Strong critical thinking, assessment skills, and resilience in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality nursing care for a cardiac-heavy patient population, including atrial fibrillation, heart failure, post-ablation care, dialysis, and sepsis management
  • Collaborate with a highly experienced team led by a long-tenured manager committed to staff development and retention
  • Support the unit with student precepting and orientation of new hires in a teaching hospital environment
  • Adhere to unit policies including wearing non-branded scrubs and maintaining attendance standards
