Exciting opportunity for an experienced Neuro Surgical MS RN to provide specialized care during night shifts at a leading hospital in Boonville, Indiana. This 13-week contract role offers a dynamic work environment focused on neuro and neuro-surgical patient populations. Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver nursing care to neuro and neuro-surgical patients, including those with CVAs, elective back/neck surgeries, post-op craniotomies, and cerebral angiograms.
  • Perform advanced neurological assessments using NIHSS and dysphagia screening.
  • Manage basic tele interpretation, strict intake and outputs, straight catheterization, Foley care, and heparin drip initiation/titration.
  • Administer blood and blood products, perform venipuncture and blood cultures.
  • Care for NG tubes, indwelling drain management, and stable medication drips.
  • Participate in unit float assignments within skillset, covering nearby campuses as needed.
  • Uphold documentation standards with recent EPIC charting experience.
  • Collaborate within a strong team environment supporting a 37-bed unit with excellent leadership.

Qualifications:

  • Current active compact RN license.
  • AHA BLS and NIHSS certifications.
  • Minimum two years of solid neuro nursing experience, including trauma level II.
  • Completion of at least one travel assignment.
  • Proficiency with EPIC electronic charting system (checkoff class required).
  • Strong critical thinking and assessment capabilities.
  • Ability to manage change effectively and work collaboratively.

Schedule & Shift Requirements:

  • 12-hour night shifts (6:30 PM 7:00 AM).
  • Required to work three weekends every six weeks and alternate holidays.
  • Guaranteed 36 hours weekly (48-hour contracts available upon request).
  • No blocked schedule requests.

Additional Details:

  • Scrub color: Navy blue (no competing system or agency logos).
  • Must adhere to a 40-mile radius rule, excluding local candidates.
  • Teaching hospital environment may require precepting of students or new hires.
  • COVID-19 vaccine currently not mandated but subject to change.
