Professionally, this role places you in a robust medical-surgical/telemetry unit within a Level 1 Trauma, teaching hospital recognized as a Chest Pain and Stroke Center. With 35 beds running at a full census, youll care for a diverse patient population, including post-trauma and orthopedic cases, acute and chronic illnesses, and complex post-surgical recoveries. This assignment is ideal for enhancing your resume through exposure to the latest technology and interdisciplinary teamwork, as well as learning from varied leadership styles in a high-acuity setting.
Schedule/Hours:
- 12-hour shifts: 7A7P or 7P7A
- Weekend rotation: 56 shifts per 6-week cycle
- No call requirements
- Holiday coverage required; flexible scheduling every 6 weeks
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid RN license
- Minimum 2 years Med/Surg Telemetry RN experience
- BLS required; ACLS and national certification preferred
- Strong clinical assessment, IV, wound care, and telemetry interpretation skills
- Proficient in trach care, chest tube management, and complex medication administration
- Experience with EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Pyxis medication systems
- Willingness to float to other telemetry/med-surg units
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver evidence-based nursing care to a diverse medical-surgical patient mix
- Coordinate interdisciplinary care, discharge planning, and patient educationespecially in renal/fluid management
- Collaborate closely with CNAs, charge nurses, unit secretaries, and the resource team
- Utilize cutting-edge technology and participate in rapid admission/discharge protocols
