Job Description

This contract role offers a chance to work within a Level 1 Trauma, teaching hospital and stroke center known for state-of-the-art care. Utilize your experience and clinical skills across multiple inpatient Med/Surg units in a float pool capacity, ensuring every shift brings challenge and growth.

Schedule/Hours:

  • Rotating shifts and float opportunities across Med/Surg and Telemetry units

Qualifications:

  • Valid RN license
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent Med/Surg or Telemetry RN experience
  • BLS certification required; ACLS preferred (must pass EKG competency during onboarding)
  • Med/Surg certification a plus
  • Proficiency with trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, glucometer use
  • Comfortable with insulin drips, heparin drips, and drips titrated to HR
  • Experience as a first-time traveler welcome

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality nursing care to diverse adult inpatient populations with varied medical and telemetry needs
  • Maintain patient ratios of 1:4-6, ensuring personalized attention
  • Collaborate with a strong interdisciplinary team: CNA support for daily tasks, unit secretary coverage, 24/7 RT, hospitalists, and intensivists
  • Float to Med/Surg and Telemetry units as staffing needs require
  • Document care in Epic EMR; manage medication and equipment with Alaris, Pyxis, and Phillips systems
  • Perform phlebotomy tasks as needed; coordinate care with resource and discharge nurses
