Advance your nursing career in a dynamic, team-based environment delivering care on busy Med/Surg Telemetry units. This contract role offers a chance to work within a Level 1 Trauma, teaching hospital and stroke center known for state-of-the-art care. Utilize your experience and clinical skills across multiple inpatient Med/Surg units in a float pool capacity, ensuring every shift brings challenge and growth.
Schedule/Hours:
- Rotating shifts and float opportunities across Med/Surg and Telemetry units
Qualifications:
- Valid RN license
- Minimum of 2 years of recent Med/Surg or Telemetry RN experience
- BLS certification required; ACLS preferred (must pass EKG competency during onboarding)
- Med/Surg certification a plus
- Proficiency with trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, glucometer use
- Comfortable with insulin drips, heparin drips, and drips titrated to HR
- Experience as a first-time traveler welcome
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality nursing care to diverse adult inpatient populations with varied medical and telemetry needs
- Maintain patient ratios of 1:4-6, ensuring personalized attention
- Collaborate with a strong interdisciplinary team: CNA support for daily tasks, unit secretary coverage, 24/7 RT, hospitalists, and intensivists
- Float to Med/Surg and Telemetry units as staffing needs require
- Document care in Epic EMR; manage medication and equipment with Alaris, Pyxis, and Phillips systems
- Perform phlebotomy tasks as needed; coordinate care with resource and discharge nurses
