Job Description
Provide specialized orthopedic nursing care for patients on a 30-bed ortho unit during night shifts at a well-established hospital in the St. Louis area. This 13-week contract position demands clinical proficiency, teamwork, and flexibility in delivering comprehensive patient care under the Missouri Nurse Practice Act.
Responsibilities:
- Perform direct nursing care for orthopedic inpatients, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Coordinate patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize outcomes and patient comfort.
- Maintain professional accountability and confidentiality of patient information consistent with hospital policies and standards.
- Adapt to physical demands requiring frequent standing, walking, lifting, and bending while ensuring patient safety and comfort.
- Participate in orientation on day shift prior to night shift assignment.
- Float to similar or lower acuity units as needed.
Qualifications/Desired Experience:
- Current RN license eligible or active in Missouri.
- Minimum of 2 years orthopedic inpatient nursing experience.
- BLS certification from AHA required; ACLS certification preferred.
- Proven ability to perform effectively within a team and adapt to varied patient needs.
- Comfortable working night shifts (1900-0730) with weekend coverage every other weekend.
Schedule/Hours:
- Night shift: 1900 to 0730
- Full-time: 36 or 48 hours weekly (indicate preferred hours on application)
- Weekend hours as scheduled
- No call requirements
