Job Description

An opportunity is available for a skilled Registered Nurse with Med/Surg expertise and a focus on renal care to work on a contract basis in Atlanta, GA. This role supports adult to geriatric patients, managing complex cases such as hemodialysis catheter management, manual peritoneal dialysis and cycler use, sepsis, telemonitoring, alcohol withdrawal (CIWA), urinary tract infections, and chronic kidney disease with hypertensive emergencies.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years nursing experience; first-time contract nurses are welcome to apply
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Strong background in Med/Surg nursing with renal specialty knowledge
  • Ability to manage patient ratios of approximately 1:6 across 20 rooms with an average census of 18
  • Familiarity with electronic health systems such as Epic, Pyxis, and implementation of SBAR communication

Schedule and Work Environment:

  • Three 12-hour day shifts (07:00 AM 7:00 PM)
  • Every other weekend rotation required
  • Floating to other units as needed; no on-call responsibilities
  • Expected to work major holidays during the assignment, with specific holidays identified
  • Compliance with orientation and screening processes essential for timely start

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive patient care adhering to renal-focused Med/Surg protocols
  • Manage critical devices and implement monitor-driven assessments
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary healthcare teams
  • Maintain accurate documentation and uphold hospital policies and standards
