Job Description

This opportunity calls for a Registered Nurse (RN) with specialized experience in neurosurgery and neuroscience to support patient care on a dedicated 18-bed neurological unit. The position operates as a contract role, offering a 36-hour workweek with every other weekend off, providing a balance between professional commitment and personal time.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care to neurosurgery and neuroscience patients on the 4th Floor Neuro unit.
  • Maintain patient safety and comfort, performing assessments and interventions aligned with neurosurgical protocols.
  • Communicate effectively with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate and optimize patient care.
  • Document patient progress using Cerner EMR system accurately and timely.
  • Adhere to hospital policies, including infection control and dressing codes (navy blue scrubs, no artificial fingernails).
  • Provide support and float to other areas as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Current RN license with a minimum of 2 years of neuro/neurosurgery nursing experience.
  • Valid AHA BLS and AHA NIH Stroke Scale certifications.
  • Strong proficiency in managing neurosurgical patients and understanding neurological assessments.
  • Positive attitude, excellent work ethic, and collaborative team player mindset.
  • Ability to maintain patient ratios of 1:6 in a fast-paced clinical setting.
