Job Description
Provide critical nursing care as a Registered Nurse on a med/surg and post-operative unit, supporting adult patients with orthopedic and medical/surgical needs. This contract opportunity offers a 7 PM shift with a consistent 36-hour workweek and a manageable patient ratio to ensure quality care delivery.
Location & Unit Overview: Located in Alabaster, Alabama, this role is based on a 4 West medical-surgical floor with 30 beds. The unit primarily cares for patients recovering from surgery as well as general med/surg cases. The electronic medical records system used is Cerner, facilitating seamless documentation and communication.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to adult med/surg and orthopedic post-op patients.
- Manage medication administration and patient assessments efficiently within a 6:1 patient ratio.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.
- Adapt to floating assignments as staffing demands require.
- Maintain compliance with established protocols and patient safety standards.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Active RN license with at least 2 years of med/surg and orthopedic post-op nursing experience.
- Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Proficient in time management and providing care in a fast-paced environment.
- Friendly, compassionate demeanor with a strong sense of urgency and resilience.
- Familiarity with Cerner EMR systems preferred.
Schedule:
- 7 PM shift
- 36 hours per week guaranteed
- Every other weekend coverage
- No on-call requirements
Work Environment and Dress Code:
- Navy scrubs required
- Personal grooming standards prohibit artificial nails, gel nails, dip nails, long nails, and earbuds.
