An opportunity is open for a registered nurse skilled in Interventional Radiology (IR) to support critical patient care in a Level IV Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center setting in the Brookfield, WI area. This travel assignment offers a dynamic role within a 277-bed hospital known for comprehensive care, including a Level III NICU and specialized IR services.
Position Details:
- Location: Brookfield, WI (servicing a facility in nearby West Allis)
- Job Type: Travel assignment
- Patient Focus: Line placements, drains, guided biopsies, vascular procedures including carotid stents, angiograms, and AAA repair
- Units: 1 Holding Room (2 patient capacity), 2 IR Suites
- Schedule: Flexible start times (7:00, 7:30, or 8:00 AM); weekend rotation every 6th week; one weeknight call shift weekly; holiday call only with manager-approved time off; 30-minute call response expectation
Qualifications/Desired Experience:
- Registered Nurse with valid RN license
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum of 1-2 years nursing experience preferred; first-time travelers considered upon review
- Proficient in patient transport, sedation medication administration, pre/post procedure recovery, circulating, discharge follow-up calls, and coordination of orders within IR
- Comfortable working with EMR (EPIC), Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing systems, and various patient monitors
Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive nursing care through all IR procedural stages including patient preparation, intra-procedural support, and recovery
- Collaborate effectively with IR techs, hospitalists, respiratory therapists, and management teams
- Maintain organized supply management, assist with tray setup, and ensure readiness of procedural rooms
- Respond to call shifts promptly and efficiently alongside a tech partner
