A specialized nursing opportunity is available for an experienced Registered Nurse with a focus on stepdown/PCU care, located in Webster, NY. This contract position supports a facility dedicated to clinical excellence, professional growth, and evidence-based practices within a Level II nursing unit.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver competent, high-quality nursing care in alignment with established standards under the Nurse Manager's direction.
- Function in an expanded role, potentially including charge nurse duties, preceptorship, and participation in committees.
- Manage complex patient needs involving high acuity stroke, neurosurgical care, and various neurological interventions.
- Perform specialized care such as Q1 neuro checks, management of external ventricular drains (EVDs), lumbar and subdural drains, arterial lines, and advanced monitoring.
- Care for patients with aneurysm coils/clips, carotid endarterectomies, deep brain stimulators (DBS), ventriculoperitoneal (VP) shunts, and seizure management.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Current New York State RN license required.
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience, with specific stepdown/PCU expertise mandatory.
- BLS certification required; ACLS and NIHSS certifications preferred.
- Experience with telemetry, high acuity stroke, and neurosurgical patient populations is essential.
