Provide expert nursing care in a dynamic Intensive Care Unit (ICU) setting in Tuba City, AZ, supporting critically ill patients and their families. This contract role involves working primarily in a 5-bed ICU with occasional float opportunities to the Emergency Department, Med/Surg, or Pediatrics during low census periods. Engage in comprehensive patient care guided by physician orders, hospital policies, and nursing best practices.
Location Overview:
Tuba City is nestled in Northwestern Arizona on the Colorado Plateau, offering a culturally rich environment amid a semi-desert landscape varying from 4,400 to nearly 7,000 feet in elevation. This vibrant community is home to the Navajo, Hopi, and Southern Paiute tribes, alongside Anglo, Hispanic, and African American residents, contributing to diverse cultural experiences both inside and outside the workplace.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized nursing care to critically ill patients in the ICU.
- Perform nursing procedures independently with professional judgment tailored to patient conditions.
- Support post-operative recovery for general surgery, pediatric, and OB patients during after-hours.
- Follow doctors orders, nursing protocols, and hospital policies meticulously.
- Float to other units (ED, Med/Surg, Pediatrics) when census dictates.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of ICU nursing experience.
- Associate Degree in Nursing required.
- Current, valid unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in any U.S. state, territory, or Puerto Rico.
- Maintain certifications throughout employment:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) American Heart Association
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) American Heart Association (within 6 months of hire)
- Trauma Care After Resuscitation (TCAR) (within 6 months of hire)
- National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) (within 6 months of hire)
Additional Information:
- Orientation every 2 weeks.
- COVID & Flu vaccine exemptions may be accepted following submission of declination form.
- Housing application must be completed at least 2 weeks prior to start date (shared contractor housing; no pets or families allowed).
