Job Description

A specialized opportunity is available for a registered nurse with ICU expertise in a step-down environment specializing in cardiac, stroke, and telemetry patients. This role is based in Skokie, IL, and offers a focused 12-hour night shift schedule on a contract basis. The setting is a 110-bed orthopedic and spine specialty hospital that provides an environment more advanced than general medical-surgical units but less acute than a full ICU, catering primarily to complex spine post-surgical care and orthopedic cases.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Active Illinois RN license and current CPR, ACLS, NIHSS certifications
  • Minimum of 2 years ICU experience, specifically in telemetry or ICU units
  • Successful completion of a passed EKG test (to be submitted with the application)
  • Familiarity with nursing in advanced step-down units, with nurse-to-patient ratio approximately 1:2
  • Ability to work every other weekend and participate in Monday orientation which includes an EKG competency assessment

Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality care for cardiac, stroke, telemetry, and post-surgical orthopedic patients
  • Adhere to unit protocols and support a team caring for patients in an orthopedic and spine specialty hospital setting
  • Potentially float to other hospital floors as needed, demonstrating flexibility
  • Comply with hospital policies including attendance during at least one holiday and orientation requirements
