Providing critical care in a dynamic ICU setting, this contract opportunity is located in Sheboygan, WI. The role involves caring for patients in a lower acuity ICU environment, including general ICU, stroke, COVID-19, medical, surgical, behavioral health, and overdose cases. This position requires three years of nursing experience and offers exposure to a range of patient needs in a supportive, well-equipped unit.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and manage patients requiring ventilator support, chest tubes, tracheostomies, and line management.
- Utilize bedside and nursing station tele monitoring systems.
- Apply skills in proning patients and interpreting cardiac strips.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including respiratory therapists, hospitalists, ICU educators, and therapists.
- Float between ICU, cardiac, and stepdown units as needed.
- Maintain accurate documentation using EPIC and manage medication administration with Alaris and Pyxis systems.
- Adhere to infection control protocols with provided conventional PPE.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Registered Nurse (RN) with current licensure.
- Minimum of 3 years ICU nursing experience.
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS).
- Comfortable with critical care equipment and patient monitoring technologies.
- Ability to float across critical care and stepdown units.
Schedule and Work Environment:
- Weekend rotation every other weekend.
- Variable on-call and holiday work depending on unit needs.
- One shift orientation to learn unit flow.
- Free employee parking in designated areas.
- Professional scrubs of any color permitted.
