Clinical Setting & Professional Development:
Work in a primary Stroke Center with a supportive team, offering exposure to varied patient cases like ARDS, sepsis, COPD, DKA, and stroke, primarily within a Medical ICU environment. Collaborate with resource nurses, 24/7 hospitalist and intensivist support, RT coverage, and eager recent gradsmaking it a valuable chance to share expertise and mentor less experienced nurses.
Shift & Scheduling:
- 12-hour shifts: 6:45 AM - 7:15 PM or 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM
- Weekend rotation: Every other weekend
- No on-call; travelers expected to cover 75% of holidays
- Scheduling cycle: every 6 weeks
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide high-acuity ICU care (2:1 patient ratio) or IMC care (3:1)
- Manage arterial lines, titrate vasoactive meds, ventilator management/weaning (with RT support), chest tube management
- Collaborate with CNAs, resource nurses, and department leadership
- Document using EPIC EMR; utilize Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell med dispensing, and unit-specific equipment
- Float as needed to Med Surg (4:1 ratio) or assist in the ED as a resource
Qualifications:
- Active RN license
- Minimum two years of ICU experience
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Experience with arterial line management, critical care medication titration, ventilator management, and excellent critical thinking skills
- First-time travelers considered with strong ICU background
