Job Description
A critical care nursing opportunity awaits skilled RNs with ICU experience in Rome, NY, specializing in Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU)/Progressive Care Unit (PCU) settings. This contract position offers the chance to work in a dynamic healthcare environment supporting patients with complex neurological, cardiac, trauma, respiratory, and postoperative needs.
Key responsibilities include managing patients with diagnoses such as COPD, DKA, sepsis, MI, and CV stepdown. Nurses will utilize specialty equipment including temporary pacers, chest tubes, arterial lines, BiPAP, and Neptune VapoVents. Experience with chronic ventilator patients who are unable to wean is essential, with respiratory therapy assistance available. The unit comprises 64 beds, including 15 designated for neurological care, with patients aged 18 and above. The position requires floating flexibility and familiarity with EPIC electronic medical records.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years RN experience in IMCU/PCU with documented travel nursing assignments
- Active NY RN license and all applicable RN licenses verified through NURSYS
- Current AHA BLS, ACLS, NIHSS certifications
- Valid drivers license with local demographic address (within 75 miles)
- EPIC EMR proficiency
- Readiness to float and adapt to changing unit needs
Schedule:
- Shift: 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM (block scheduling not guaranteed)
