Job Description

Provide critical care nursing expertise in a lower acuity Intensive Care Unit (ICU) setting, delivering high-quality patient care while collaborating with interdisciplinary teams. This contract opportunity is based in Port Washington, WI, offering an engaging role in a reputable healthcare environment known for exceptional patient outcomes and advanced care services.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and manage patients with diverse conditions including stroke, COVID-19, medical, surgical, behavioral health, and overdose cases
  • Interpret cardiac monitoring strips, manage ventilators, chest tubes, tracheostomies, and line care
  • Employ proning techniques to optimize patient respiratory status
  • Utilize bedside and nursing station telemonitoring systems
  • Collaborate closely with CNAs, respiratory therapists, hospitalists, and specialty therapists to provide comprehensive care
  • Float to cardiac and stepdown units as required, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability
  • Chart accurately using EPIC and operate clinical equipment such as Alaris pumps and Pyxis medication systems

Qualifications:

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license with at least 3 years of ICU nursing experience
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
  • Proficient in critical care nursing skills including ventilator management and telemetry monitoring
  • Comfortable working with a patient ratio of 1:2-3 based on acuity
  • Able to work weekends on a rotating schedule and flexible with on-call and holiday requirements
  • Professional appearance with scrub color choice allowed
  • Ability to float to different units when necessary

Schedule:

  • Weekend rotation every other weekend
  • Time off approval available up to 7 days
