Job Description

An exciting opportunity is available for a skilled registered nurse to provide expert care in a dynamic Intensive Care Unit. The clinical environment features a mix of cardiac and medical ICU patients, including those with DKA, acute respiratory failure, MIs, CABGs, and ventilator needs. This contract role operates on a full-time basis, offering the potential to transition to a permanent position.

Schedule:

  • Nights: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
  • Every other weekend required
  • No on-call or floating responsibilities

Qualifications:

  • Current RN license valid in New Mexico or a Compact state
  • TNCC certification required
  • BLS and ACLS certifications via AHA (American Heart Association)
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
  • One year of critical care nursing experience preferred (new graduates considered)
  • Ability to complete New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire, and participate in preceptorship and competency validations

Responsibilities:

  • Utilize the nursing process to deliver comprehensive care, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation
  • Manage the care of medically complex patients as part of a dedicated interdisciplinary team
  • Administer medications and interventions in accordance with established protocols
  • Accurately document all aspects of care and patient history
  • Provide education and support to patients and their families, addressing a spectrum of emotional, psychological, and cultural needs
  • Participate in ongoing professional development through annual competency requirements

Additional Information:

  • Nurse-to-patient ratio: 2:1 for ICU, 4:1 for IMCU patients within the ICU
  • Blocked scheduling and call shifts are not required
